Aleia Garcia (Benavidez) New Braunfels, Texas Was born in Weslaco Texas, Christmas Day 1938 and passed away on August 1, 2018. She is preceded in death by her son Robert Louis and survived by her children Patricia, David III (Hope), Aleida Lightfoot (Shawn), Benjamin, and Daniel (Elizabeth), 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Her life began in the Valley and although New Braunfels was her home for decades, she never forgot the family she left behind with whom she visited often. Mom was a woman passionate about life and those around her who shared it with her. She was admired by many of how in-tune she was about her creativity and her many passions. She loved many and was loved by many. The legacy she leaves with her family is her incredible compassion for those in need and those that suffered and the importance of standing strong. She used her intelligence wisely and could have been anything she wanted, but to Mom, in her own words, “My purpose in life was to be a Mother”. There is no doubt she was cherished by her children for her unconditional love. A memorial service will be held on Christmas Day 2018 in celebration of her life and 80th birthday at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens, Pharr Texas.
