Charles David Koehler, age 63, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Colonial Manor. Charles was born on June 22, 1955 in San Antonio to the late Bradley and Billie Gilmore Charlie served in the Navy and was on the aircraft carrier the USS Enterprise. After the Navy he went to Belgium and was trained for a job at the textile mill in New Braunfels. He worked there until the mill closed and went on to work at Hexcel. Charlie loved his motorcycles, muscle cars, flea markets, sci-fi, anything sweet, and jokes. He was known for making up silly jokes that made himself laugh. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his son, Cole Koehler; wife, Louisa Koehler; sisters, Donna Reininger, Diane Lang and her husband Robert; brothers, Johnnie Gilmore and Bradley Gilmore and his fiancé Karen Lyday. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. His son Cole was his pride and joy. Robert Lang was not only his brother-in-law, but also his best friend. A visitation will be held at the Lux Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, from 5:00 - 9:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2015 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Military Honors. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Colonial Manor and to Heart to Heart Hospice for the compassion and care they gave Charlie. “And God shall wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4
