Alexander Endacott

Alexander Endacott aged 43, died at his home in San Antonio Texas on August 19th, 2026, at 3:06 a.m., comforted in the arms of his loving wife Lucy, and attended by a home hospice nurse. His death followed a five-month long struggle with stage 4 metastatic colorectal cancer, first diagnosed in March of 2026. His parents, Michael and Kirsten Endacott and Lucy’s parents provided support throughout his illness and were in close attendance for the final few days of his life.

Alex was born in Brooklyn, New York, to parents Michael and Kirsten Endacott at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital on November 21st, 1982, at 11:57 pm. In his early childhood he spent many happy summers at the home of his grandparents in upstate New York, in company with his older brother Tom and cousins Erik and Marta Hallgren. He was an excellent swimmer and seemed to really feel at home in water. Later, he developed a love of music and studied classical guitar during his teenage years.

His education began at Children’s House Montessori school in Park Slope, followed by grade school in the New York City public school system from which he graduated in 2000. He also continued his classical guitar studies throughout with a private teacher in Park Slope Brooklyn.
From 2000 until 2005 Alex studied sound engineering in New York and interned with Sony Columbia records. This internship allowed him to search for musical talent who would make demos at the Sony studio. His keen interest in sound and music included forming a rock band with several friends and playing local gigs in Brooklyn.

He moved to Austin Texas in 2009 to begin a degree course at St. Edward’s University. He completed his college education in 2013, earning a bachelor’s degree in religious studies. 2013 was a seminal year for Alex: he graduated from college, married his wife Lucy (on Valentine’s Day), got hired at Texas State University and became the father of his son Enzo!

In 2017, Alex made a life changing decision to switch careers and enrolled into a coding boot camp, Codeup in San Antonio, TX earning him a professional certificate in full stack web development. He worked in various roles in several software firms, before settling into a full-time position with WPEngine, his dream company, working as a Data Platform Engineer for the last 5 years of his working life, enjoying taking on some of their most challenging projects.

WPEngine provides web hosting services for WordPress web sites created for large corporate clients. Alex’s work for the data platform group supported efficient and secure use of the WPEngine infrastructure (the banks of servers supporting cloud services). He wrote data extracts in python, go and terraform (a language specific to cloud services) to populate data warehouses used by analytics software.
Alex loved his life, providing for his family, he enjoyed being a father, his work and creating music.

Alex is survived by his beloved wife Lucy Endacott, son Enzo Endacott; parents Michael and Kirsten Endacott; brother Tom Endacott; his father and mother-in-law Jose and Martha Quezada; his sister-in-law Paola Wang; brother-in-law Charlie Wang; his niece Bella; his brother-in-law Jose Quezada III and sister-in-law Eva Quezada; niece Luna and nephew Levi, his uncle John Endacott and family, his uncle and aunt Jon and Mary Hallgren, his cousins Erik and Amy Hallgren and Marta and Justin Dauphinee, his uncle Rob Flynn, aunt Laura Hallgren Flynn, nephew Andrei Flynn, his uncle and aunt Chris Hallgren and Lisa Nold, his aunt Neddi Heller and cousin Rebekkah Hallgren. Nieces and nephews Sophie, Duncan, Evelyn, Lucas, Matthew, Sage, Sam and Georgia. Alex was preceded in death by his grandparents, Douglas and Joan Hallgren as well as his uncle William Hallgren.
