Born in: Jackson, Mississippi
Resided in: New Braunfels, Texas

Daniel Stevenson Pigott, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 27, 2026, in New Braunfels, Texas. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, to Jimmie Evelyn D. and Baxter Wendell Pigott, Danny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and trusted friend.

Danny grew up in Jackson, graduating from Murrah High School before earning his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Mississippi State University. He later completed studies at the LSU Graduate School of Banking of the South. Danny enjoyed a distinguished 43-year career in banking and executive leadership across Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, New Mexico, and Utah, where he earned the deep respect of colleagues and peers. He retired as President of Wallis State Bank in Houston, TX in 2014.

While starting his career in Memphis, Tennessee, Danny met the love of his life, Susan. Together, they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage, building a close knit family and a lifetime of cherished memories.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Danny’s greatest joy was his family. He loved watching Mississippi State football, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, playing golf, participating in his men’s Bible study, and reading to and dancing with his granddaughters. Some of his favorite moments were spent outdoors — whether vacationing with his brother in-law Steve and wife Lavonn, or simply sitting on the patio with a cold beer and listening to country music.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister, Cecilia Lois Newbert, and brother, Baxter Wendell Pigott, Jr.

Danny is survived by his beloved wife, Susan; his children, Daniel Shawn Pigott (Jess) and Danielle Susan Pigott Young (CJ); his precious granddaughters, Katelyn Renee, Alison Michelle, and Leila Kateson; as well as many dear relatives, brothers in faith, family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideons.org or any Alzheimer’s research charity.

  1. Susan,

I was sorry to hear of Danny’s passing. Connie and I talk of you and Danny and when you came to our wedding. As you would expect, we have to tell the story Danny told at the rehearsal dinner and was then again repeated at the wedding by the priest.

I so fondly remember the times in Dallas i spent with Danny at “choir practice” and the mentor that he was to me.

I was very blessed to have known him and to spend time with the two of you.

    Love and prayers,
