David Lee Donley Jr.

David Lee Donley Jr., age 62, passed into the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ on March 4th, 2025, after a courageous battle with aggressive leukemia. He was born on June 7th, 1962, in Branson, Missouri, to David Lee Donley Sr. and LaVera (Jan) Donley née Robbins.

David is preceded in death by his mother, LaVera (Jan) Donley née Robbins, and his triplet infant sons, David Donley, II, Spencer Donley and Colin Donley.
He is survived by his wife, Lorena Ruth (Lorie) Donley née Pompa; his father, David Lee Donley Sr. and his wife Mary Donley; his daughter, Maria Elena Donley; his son, David Quinton Donley; his mother-in-law, Zulema B. DeLeon; his step-daughter, Victoria Lynne Mussa and fiancée Ryan Jacob Shelley and their daughter Addison Lynne Mussa; his step-son, Austin Ryan Mussa and wife Allison Marie Mussa and their children, Nolan James Mussa, Olivia Maeve Mussa; his sister, Lina L Donley-DuPont and husband, George DuPont and their children, Allyson Elizabeth DuPont, Amy Christina DuPont Gosselin and husband William Gosselin, Scott George DuPont and fiancée James Landry, Laura Anne DuPont; and his brother, Robert H Donley and wife Kim and their children, Michael Donley and Kelly Donley.

David was raised in a military family and moved frequently in his childhood having lived in Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Alabama, California, Rhode Island, Louisiana, and Texas. He was Baptized at the age of one in the United Methodist Church of Greene County, Pennsylvania. As a young man David was a Boy Scout and earned the rank of Eagle Scout, scouting’s highest rank. He went on to graduate High School from Bossier High School in Bossier City, Louisiana. After High School, David did collegiate studies at Texas A&M and graduated with a degree in Engineering, all the while working in the Texas oil fields to support his education.

After graduating he worked in construction for a time before enlisting in the United States Air Force on January 7th, 1985, in Houston, Texas. He served honorably in the Air Force and eventually became a pilot. He honorably retired from active-duty service in 2008 only to reenlist a year later in 2009. During his military service he served as a Special Ops Pilot for 3 years, a Development Engineer for 4 years and 1 month, an Instructor Airlift Pilot for 2 years and 2 months, and an Airlift Pilot for 4 years and 6 months. For his service to the United States, David was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Aerial Achievement Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award with Valor Device, and the Combat Readiness Medal with many oak leaf clusters assigned for each decoration.

David was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church of New Braunfels, Texas where he was ordained as a Deacon in the Presbyterian Church in America on October 23rd, 2016. He enthusiastically served Christ as a member of his church by teaching Sunday School, ushering, organizing Men’s Ministry, and his beloved Wednesday Night Dinners. David loved his Lord, loved his church, loved his fellow Deacons, and loved the men, women, and children whom he was a shepherd over.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13th, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Christ Presbyterian Church, followed by the Funeral Service from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, with a reception to follow.

A graveside service will take place on Friday, March 14th, 2025, at 9:15 AM at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), Christ Presbyterian Church of New Braunfels, Texas, or to a pro-life charity of your choice.
