Harold Lee Williams

Harold Lee Williams of New Braunfels, Texas, loving husband and father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, died peacefully in the presence of family on the evening of Monday, November 11, 2024, seven years to the day from the day his beloved Jacquelyn was laid to rest. He was 93.
Mr. Williams was born on January 8, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Cordell (Phillips) Williams and Marion Elbert Williams. He attended schools in Oklahoma City and graduated from Odessa High School, Odessa, Texas. Mr. Williams married the love of his life, Jacquelyn Ann Phelps, in 1948. He attended the University of Oklahoma where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering, graduating in the top five percent of his class in December of 1958. After his work as an engineer for Philips Petroleum in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and Odessa, Texas, he retired in 1986. Mr. Williams was active in his community, serving on the Midland-Odessa Symphony Board, in Leadership Odessa, and as an elder and Sunday school teacher at First Presbyterian Church, Odessa. Mr. Williams was recently celebrated as a seventy-year Mason (32nd degree Master Mason) and was also a Shriner. At the time of his passing, Williams was a member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in San Antonio, Texas. His passions were poetry, good music, golf, reading (especially history and the Bible), growing roses for his girls, and most of all, he loved his family.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his father Marion Williams, mother Cordell Williams, sister Gabrielle Murphy, brother Marion Albert Williams, niece Gaylene Murphy, and by Jacquelyn Ann Williams, his beloved wife of 69 1/2 years.
Williams is survived by two daughters, Tracy Schulke and husband Gerald, Kelly Cowart and husband Mark, all of New Braunfels; four grandchildren, Brian Welch and wife Emma, and Patrick Welch, all of Pinehurst, Texas, Rebecca Shipman and husband Brian of Brookshire, Texas, and Trey Martch and wife Alicia of Owasso, Oklahoma; two step-granddaughters Jennifer Kugler and husband Justin and their children Ellie and Henry all of Jacksonville, Florida, Allison Griffey and husband Brian of Austin, Texas, and also Mark and Celeste Schulke of Surprise, Arizona, and their children Hunter and Emmy, for whom Harold also had special affection; ten great-grand-children, Grace Shipman and Andrew Shipman of Brookshire, Texas, Aaleahya Welch, Odis Welch, Addilyn Welch, and Benjamin Welch all of Pinehurst, Texas, Hayley Martch and Courtney Martch of Bertram, Texas, and William Martch and Mark Martch of Owasso, Oklahoma; and one nephew, Mark Murphy of Geary, Oklahoma.
A Memorial Service for Harold Williams will be held on December 7, 2024, at 2:00 in the Chapel at Lux Funeral Home, 1254 N. Business Interstate Hwy. 35 (Elliott Knox Blvd.), New Braunfels, Texas.
