Resided in: New Braunfels, Texas

Laurie Jo (Sanders) Jasinski, at 101, passed away at home in New Braunfels, Texas, and was born into Eternal Life on February 24, 2026. She was born to Joseph John Sanders and Laurie (Pfau) Sanders on November 13, 1924, in New Braunfels. She attended Lamar Elementary School and New Braunfels High School and graduated in 1943. As a youth, she enjoyed dancing lessons and studied both ballet and tap. She also enjoyed reading the Winnie-the-Pooh stories and the Dick Tracy comic strip, listening to radio (especially Little Orphan Annie), and going on scenic drives in the country with her parents in their Ford Model A.

Laurie graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Radio Broadcasting in 1948. She worked in both radio and television. When KGNB-AM, New Braunfels’s first radio station, went on the air, she served as its first on-air society editor in 1950. She also starred in a local television program, Platter Personalities, on station KEYL (which later became KENS-TV) in San Antonio. She held various secretarial positions, including for the Transit Company and USAA. Later, she began a career in teaching and taught second grade at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School in New Braunfels from 1965 to 1974.

On August 7, 1954, she married Richard A. Jasinski, who became a practicing attorney in New Braunfels, and she served as his secretary from the mid-1970s through the 1990s. They were married for 68 years until his death in 2023.

She was a charter member of the local Catholic Daughters of the Americas and served as Regent from 1977 to 1981. She also belonged to the American Association of University Women, and she served a term as president of the Comal County Sportsman Association.

Since childhood, Laurie had a passion for creative writing. In 1985 she published a romance/mystery novel, Memory’s Legacy. She enjoyed reading, swimming, science fiction, and trying new foods. Outings to get a facial or manicure were always welcome! In her later years, she stayed strong by working out at CHRISTUS Rehab (and inspiring “youngsters” in their 70s and 80s).

Laurie is survived by her son Lawrence Joseph “Larry” Jasinski, her daughter Laurie Eileen “Lei” Jasinski, and her “second son,” son-in-law Gary S. Hickinbotham.

A Rosary and wake in her honor will be held at Lux Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 5pm to 8pm. A funeral Mass to celebrate her life will take place at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 10 am.

Donations in her honor can be made to Catholic Daughters of the Americas. For more information go to (www.catholicdaughters.org) for the national organization or (www.sppnb.org/catholic-daugthers) for the local Court #2085 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

She was a person of kindness, grace, understanding, and quiet strength. We love you!
