Resided in: New Braunfels, Texas

Raymond Steve Pollok, 89, went to rest on October 25, 2025 at his home in New Braunfels, Texas. Raymond was born November 21, 1935 in Chestohowa, Texas to Edward and Florence Pollok. He graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1954 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy later that year. Serving during the end of the Korean War, he was a boiler technician on the USS Laws working as the Oil King and later in the forward fire room.

Ray married Betty Lou Long on February 13, 1960. After being discharged from the Navy later that year, he began working at Brooks Air Force Base as the supervisor of the Heating and Cooling Power Plant. He retired from the civil service in 1990 and took a job at St. Mary’s University’s power plant before actually retiring in 2003.

Ray and Betty lived in San Antonio and raised their three sons Miles, Mark, and Michael. After retiring, they moved to New Braunfels. Ray had a passion for barbeque and building. In addition to their New Braunfels house, he also built a house in Rockport, six barbeque smokers, and plenty of Adirondack chairs that line the porches and patios of his family member’s homes. He and the Pollok BBQ team entered the Comal County Fair & Rodeo BBQ cookoff for 15 years, winning trophies, ribbons, and memories. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father who was always willing to help and teach others.

He is survived by sons Miles (Patricia), Mark (Lisa), and Michael (Beth); siblings Sigmond, Clara Key, Annie Cottingham, and Dorothy Francone; grandchildren Travis, Sarah, Tyler (Mary Allen), Alec (Julie), and Hunter; great-grandchildren Margot & Maddie; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Edward and Florence (née Laskuski); wife Betty, and sister Alice Berling.

Services will be held at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Braunfels, Texas, on December 5, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Raymond requested donations to your local animal shelter or dog food banks.
