Austin, Texas Barbara Jean Zerr, a long-time resident of the Central Texas area, passed away Sunday the 11th of June at the Village on the Park at Onion Creek, where she lived for 2 years. Born in 1934 in Corpus Christi, TX, Barbara moved to the Kyle/Buda area as a teenager, where she spent most of her life. She attended secretarial school and made a career in the administrative field, eventually retiring from the State of Texas. In her early 20's, she met the love of her life, Jack Dixon Burkett, and the two were married in 1950. Jack and Barbara shared over 55 wonderful happy years together. Barbara loved spending time at Landa Park, traveling to Hawaii and many other beautiful places, buying new homes and cars with Jack, eating mint chocolate chip ice cream (among most other sweets), socializing with friends and family, and making her famous fruit salad. She was gentle and kind, and she was as polite in her final days as she had been her entire life.
