Clifford "Cliff" Alan Martin, Jr.

clifford
Clifford “Cliff” Alan Martin Jr., 63, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at his home in New Braunfels, Texas. Cliff was born April 7, 1957 to Clifford “Red” Martin and Helen Martin (Owens) in Parsons, West Virginia, the second of four children. He married his beautiful bride and wife of 30 years, Deborah “Debbie” Lynn Martin, in 1991 who survives him. Cliff is also survived by his son, Clifford Alan Martin III; daughter, Christina Ann Le Martin; granddaughters, Elaina, Elyssa and Destinee; sisters, Patty Roy and Cathy Thompson; brother, Charles Martin and step-mother, Marijane Martin. Cliff joined the Army in 1977 serving honorably for 22 years, in Europe, Asia and the U.S., until his retirement as a Sergeant First Class in 1999. He then dedicated an additional 20 plus years to the nation serving as an Army civilian until 2019. Cliff traveled the world while with the Army and he and Debbie continued traveling for years after enjoying the RV lifestyle. Some trips were more interesting than others, but always with family by his side. Cliff was known for his love of sports but especially football. He was proud of his time as a Tucker County Panther. Cliff was an avid golfer and Steelers fan, but his most valued treasure was his family. If you had the chance to be touched by him, he always tried to help you succeed or at least see the humor in something less than success. Cliff was simply one of the good ones and the world will be less without him. He will be sorely missed and cherished. When tomorrow starts without me please try to understand, that an angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand; the angel said my place was ready, in Heaven far above, and that I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But when I walked through Heaven’s Gates, I felt so much at home, for God looked down, smiled at me, and told me “Welcome Home.” So when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart, for every time you think of me, I’m right there in your heart. A memorial service will be held in Cliff’s honor, in Parsons, WV early summer of 2021. In lieu of other remembrances the family requests donations be made to MD Anderson which helped keep him with us for many additional years or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Clifford was an amazing man who has always shown such courage throughout his long cancer journey. He accomplished so much during his lifetime and blessed our family through his love and kind spirit. Cliff always treated Mom with the utmost respect through the years! Love and prayers for his precious caregiver, Debbie and Marty and Chrissy and his beautiful grandchildren. He has given many good memories to cherish forever❤️

  2. I met Cliff over 30 years ago and I never saw him without a smile on his face unless it was replaced by a laugh. In October, we were so blessed to have Debbie and Cliff visit us in Goliad. We were so hoping for the next RV trip with him. He was one of the kindest men I’ve ever known and unquestionably the bravest.

  3. Cliff was definitely one of a kind ! He will be missed by so many, we will especially miss his sense of humor. Love David & Libby

  4. I had a lot of fun with Clifford playing ball back in the high school days. He was a great classmate and teammate! You will be missed. RIP! Dave Kyle
