Colette R. Nate, a resident of New Braunfels, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 30, 2013 in New Braunfels at the age of 45. Born on July 8, 1968 in San Antonio, TX, Colette was the daughter of the late Patrick and Fedes Nate. Also surviving are, Susan Nate of New Braunfels; Matthew Nate of New Braunfels and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Although Colette was born in San Antonio and grew up in Houston, she will always think of New Braunfels as her home. She lived there with the confidence most people dream of having. She had her disabilities but never did she let that hold her back. She was a very strong, loving and beautiful person inside and out. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Hill Country Memorial Gardens in New Braunfels with Pastor Jeff Covington officiating.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I remember when Colette would come over to my house (when her dad and Susan lived next door) and visit. I also saw her walk everywhere in town! Such a trooper. So very sad to hear this tragic news!

  2. I’ve known Renee for 25+ years, she always had a smile, she never let her disability get her down. I got her to change her route, to get away from that dangerous sidewalk, now this. I never expected this. I will miss seeing her walking the town. Her life touched many, she will be missed! Rest In Peace, Betty

  3. She was very well known and effected everyone with her graces in every way. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

  5. Our family is dearly saddened by hearing the loss of Colette. We will miss getting to see her around town. I hope your family finds comfort in knowing how much she touched so many.

  6. I am going to miss the way Colette would smile whenever she saw me around New Braunfels and the way she always refused my offer of a ride because she would rather walk and see what’s going on around the town.

  7. I am going to miss the way Colette would smile whenever she saw me around New Braunfels and the way she always refused my offer of a ride because she would rather walk and see what’s going on around the town.

  8. I did not know Colette but I saw her walking around town numerous times. She touched me in a way I can’t describe and I said a silent prayer for her each time I saw her. I am deeply saddened by her passing but I am joyful she is in heaven still walking with the same confidence and a heart full of joy and love. May time bring peace and healing to her family for their loss.

  9. I am so sorry to hear of her death. I can remember seeing her walk everywhere and it’s been years and years of seeing her do that. May god bless you all in this time and heaven has gotten another beautiful angel watching over her town N.B. and family.. God bless you

  10. Collette worked at our restaurant, Popeyes, years ago. She was such a sweet spirit. So willing to please. It was fun to spot her all over town walking and just enjoying her journey. She was a presence in our town and she will be missed.

  12. I was privileged to care for Colette as a beautiful baby girl of three days. As a tiny little girl she had a beautiful smile, big brown eyes and curly hair. She wore little dresses with pockets, which she would fill with fuzzies, lint and threads. As she grew she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a deformed foot and seizures. We never heard complaints, she adjusted and did everything she could to overcome the disabilities. Family was very important to Colette, and she was loved by all. We were so proud of her. Now she is walking with King Jesus and no limp. We will miss her.

  13. She will be missed dearly but in your hearts forever she was a sweet lady full of joy may she be walking all over the heavenly golden gates. My prayer go out to her love ones

  14. You made a difference in my family’s life without knowing us or speaking a word. I can only imagine what you can do as an angel.

  15. I remember her as being very quiet and kind of shy, but a very sweet person. I know Uncle Pat loved her very much. I wish things could of turned out for her better than they did. She will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

  16. my condolences to the family, although I did not know her personally I did see her many times walking the streets of new braunfels and a lot of people knew her as “the girl that walks everywhere” not to be disrespectful but we all knew exactly who we meant.. I for one think our town of New Braunfels will now have an angel walking our streets. God bless the family and give them strength during this hard time.

  17. I feel so sorry for the loss of this young woman. My family always saw her walking around, wanted to offer her a ride, but really knew she would refuse. I’m sad that we never offered. She personified confidence in her walk, independence, and a sense of character that most of us would envy. I know she is in heaven now, and only hope that we can all duplicate her confidence here on earth. She touched many…….

  18. Such a Tragic Loss, my family and I will miss seeing Colette walking around New Braunfels. She made us see & appreciate the simple Life in all of today’s rush. May she Rest in Peace and may her Family find peace.

  19. Susan, so sorry to hear of your loss. I too have see Colette many times in New Braunfels and thought of you and your family each time. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  20. Timmy Frank and I are so sorry for your loss. May god be with you and her family in this time of need.

  21. I only met Colette once, when my husband was on a service call at her apartment. When she finally opened up, we talked for quite a while. I was struck by her kindness and her beautiful smile. She seemed to so happy to be independent and our thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family. What a unexpected loss.

  22. I was around Colette when I was little, but my first real memory of her was at the hospital while visiting her dad. We spent the day together going between Uncle Pats room, the cafeteria, and the maternity ward. I think we spent most of the time looking at the babies 🙂 I remember her being so kind, sweet, and easy to talk to. It breaks my heart that she is gone, but I can’t help but smile at the thought that she is in heaven running around and watching over us. RIP Colette <3

  23. I did not know Colette personally and did not know her name until her passing, but I always saw her walking in town and admired her. She seemed like a person that loved life and was a determined young lady. We will miss seeing you on earth. Our thoughts and prayers are with you family and friends.

  24. I will miss seeing her walking around NB–there was just something special about her-must have been her sweet spirit everyone has mentioned. She will be remembered!

  25. I used to be the overnight pharmacist at walgreens, and had the pleasure of getting to know Colette there. She would help Martha Silvas and I pass many pleasant hours during the boring hours overnight. She had a great sense of humor and a great sense of independence. She will be sorely missed.
