David Jonathan Lutz

David Jonathan Lutz, age 70, of New Braunfels, TX, passed away peacefully at home following a long illness. Burial will be on February 16, 2023 at 11:00 am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Dave was born on March 8, 1952 in Sioux Falls, SD to Rex and Carmelita Lutz. After graduating from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD, he was a Sgt. in the USMC and served as a legal secretary in Camden, CA, Okinawa, Japan and Vietnam. After serving in the military he went to nursing school at University of South Dakota. He went onto complete his CRNA degree from Bridgeport School of Nurse Anesthetist, Bridgeport, CT. David worked at many different locations throughout his career. Dave will be deeply missed by his wife, Pamela (Sami) Lutz; his children Sara (Clint) McDonald, Briann (Rich) Derry, Alex (Dannaea) Lutz all of Salt Lake City, UT; his stepdaughters, Michelle (Tim) Ketcham, Huron, SD, Summer(Scott) Feiner, Sioux Falls, SD, Nicole Hemme, New Braunfels, TX; 14 grandchildren; his siblings Diane (Bob) Bowman, Bradenton, FL, Michele (Bob) Jacobson Garretson, SD, Tony Westendorf, Sioux Falls, SD and sister-in-law, Mary Lutz of Rio Rancho, NM. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jerry Lutz and father-in-law Ken Merritt.
A memorial service will be held on February 16, 2023 at 10:30 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 1390 Hanz Dr., New Braunfels, TX. Burial will follow at 2:15 pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Uncle Dave. I remember the fun I had flying with him in his airplanes. I remember visiting you guys in Indiana when I was racing cars and I got to stay with him and aunt Mary. I remember he gave me a ride on his 1992 Harley to the Hangar and proceeded to tell me how the engine was made in conjunction with Porsche. His enthusiasm for machinery and Airplanes always stuck with me. I remember flying in his I think it was a Cessna 172. I also remember when he flew to Yankton and we went flying in his Cherokee Six with my wife Kendra and sister in law Gillian. I have some great memories of uncle Dave and I was very sad to hear the news. Prayers to Everyone Mary, Sara, Briann and Alex and the rest of your new Family.
