Esperanza Guerrero, 90, of New Braunfels, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Resolute Hospital in New Braunfels. She was born on March 24, 1925 to the late Jose and Maria Garza in Villa Union, Coahulilla, Mexico, though she later became an American citizen and always considered America to be her home. Esperanza was preceded in death by her husband, Mercedes H. Guerrero and they are now "Together Again". In addition, she was also predeceased by her son, Hector Raul Guerrero; brothers Felix Garza and Jesus Garza; and sister Purificacin "Pura" Santos. Esperanza loved gardening, sewing, cooking and spending time with her family. She was a hard worker and was always dedicated to helping others. She worked for over 30 years at the McKenna Memorial Hospital in New Braunfels. Esperanza was affectionately called "Mommy" by all who knew her as their loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother or great-great-grandmother. She was also a beloved aunt and friend. Esperanza is survived by her daughter, Irma Camareno and her husband Joe; sons, Jaime L. Guerrero and his wife Gloria, Mario A. Guerrero and his wife Melinda; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Francisca Robles. Special thanks to Resolute Hospital, Chaplain Jeremy W. Roy and also to Kitty Camareno. Many thanks to Carlota Garza, Edelia Quiroz and Lucy De Los Santos. Pallbearers will be, Joe Camareno, Jr., John Camareno, Paul Guerrero, Lenard Aguirre, Joseph Aguirre, and J.D. Aguirre. A visitation will be held at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 21, 2016 from 5:00-9:00 pm with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel from 8:30-9:15 am with a procession to follow to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for the Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.
