Freddie R. Oertli

Freddie Ray Oertli of New Braunfels passed away May, 6, 2015 from Post Polio Syndrome at Eden Hill Nursing Home. He was born May 26, 1933 in Austin, TX to Fritz and Lillie Ida (Siggel) Oertli. A 1952 graduate of Austin High School, he worked most of his life in oil and natural gas after serving in the Army in Korea and Okinawa. He married his beloved Frances Nowotny Ferguson on December 29, 1979 and enjoyed many memories of love and laughter. He was active in Eagles Fraternal Organization, serving as Worthy President of the local Lodge 2999 and The Elks local Lodge 2279, serving as Exalted Ruler. He also was Director of the Legends Golf Group at Landa Park Golf Course. In addition, he was an active member, until his illness, of St. Paul Lutheran, serving as an usher for 30 years and in other positions. He is preceded by his parents, a sister, Genevieve Tart and a daughter, Rev. Karrie Oertli. He is survived by his wife, Frances, a daughter Tami Oertli Sewell and her husband David of San Angelo, TX. Step daughters Kathy and her husband, Laz Hernandez of Austin, TX, Beth and her husband, Forrester Smith of San Antonio. Sisters, Frieda and her husband James Davidson of Georgetown, TX and Rosie and her husband Stanley Robinson of Buffalo, TX, and 6 grandchildren, Joshua and Zachary Scott, Jennifer Buckley, Shara and Leslie Ticku and Captain Brian Hernandez, 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:30pm on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Lux Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. David Tart presiding. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Memorials donations may be given to the charity of one's choice.
