Helen Rivers

Born in Midland, TX to Homer and Sarah "Dolly" Flannagan, now gone. She graduated from High School at Abilene High school where her mom and dad both attended. She followed her Dad into accounting/bookkeeping as a profession. After 30 years in this profession she made a career change and became a substitute teacher in a middle school in Irving, TX, finally working with special needs children. Helen learned how to decorate cakes and created a business decorating cakes and wedding cakes. She became known as the “Cake Lady” both in her place of business and with the local school district. She was a member of the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts with her grandchildren. Her very favorite was when kids ran up to her in public and were so excited to see her and tell her what they had been doing. Helen is survived by her children, Elizabeth Martens; widowed daughters, Courtney Martens, Sarah Wise and Jessica Kathka. Harold & Terri Rivers, children, Chantelle Hammond and Christopher Rivers and Bobby & Kris Rivers, Sr., children Aaron Rivers, William Rivers, Bobby Rivers, Jr. and Angel Rodriguez. Plus many, many great grandchildren and more great, great grandchildren.
