Jackey Leon McClellan

jackey mcclellan
Jackey Leon McClellan slipped quietly from this world on January 19, 2023. He was 84 years old but still young at heart. Jackey had an amazing life filled with amazing adventures. From his early childhood days growing up in the Ozarks to his retirement days growing hot peppers, he always had a story to tell about his adventures. Anyone who knew him knew he loved to make people smile and laugh. A kind word or deed, a funny joke, many many harmless pranks — he was always up to something. Jackey was the strong silent type you could always count on. He loved helping others and was that guy you knew you could call on at any time day or night. He served 20 years in the Air Force which took him around the world… Korea, Guam and even that exotic foreign land called “California”. But it was in Kansas, Spring of 1965 that he met Elizabeth Janiece Fisher. They fell in love and thus began a 50-year adventure for them both. They were joined by a baby girl that he doted on and adored until his final breath. When he retired from the Air Force, they all moved to Austin, Texas. There he taught at the Southwest School of Electronics in Austin, IBM and BF Goodrich. He just loved to work at fixing things. That was fun for him. He could fix anything, even if it wasn’t broken! He is survived by his daughter and son (in-law but he never called him that) Roslyn and Clark Faust. He considered Krissy Fitts-Olson a daughter the minute she and Roslyn declared themselves sisters. Over the years he made many friends, all he considered family: Andrew & Rosemary Aldaco (and Julie!), Alex & Rosie DeLeon, Betty Faust, Ken Olson, Andy Olson, Terry & Adrena Orr, McKenzie Lakey, Marcella Langford Martin, Dr. James Rider, Dr. Neena Penagaluru, everyone at The Grand Buffet in Seguin, and so many more. He absolutely loved living at Elan Westpointe in New Braunfels. There he was doted on and spoiled by Doris King, Melissa White, Robyn Henry, Sandra LeBlanc and all of the wonderful caregivers who took care of him and made him smile every day. We know he has been eagerly greeted by his mom, Nellie Myrtle Lee McClellan, and his older brother, Ray Lee McClellan (whom he adored) along with his sisters Bonnie, Betty and Sue. In his last few days, he was lovingly cared for by those at Resolute Baptist Hospital, Kirkwood Manor and especially Hope Hospice. Those wishing to contribute in some way are asked to donate to Hope Hospice of New Braunfels. The best thing you could do is have a lukewarm beer in his honor and tell a funny story. And most importantly, y’all remember to “behave”!
