Jose Angel Villanueva

Jose A. Villanueva passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Gulf Health Care in Galveston at the age of 64. Jose was born on October 13, 1947 in New Braunfels to Ysidro Villanueva and Pomposa Guerrero Villanueva. During his working career, Jose was employed as a plumber. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Nicholas Villanueva, and by a sister, Martina Borgos. Survivors include his wife, Rosita Villanueva; children, Michelle Sallins, Yvonne Garcia, Yvette Olivarez, Joey Villanueva, Jr. and Jake Villanueva; brothers, Luis, Augustine and Gus Villanueva; sisters, Esther Samaniego, Rosa Rosales, Gloria Bennett, Paula V. Corona and Clemencia Villanueva; 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition, Jose is also survived by a step-sister, Olivia Ochoa. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM, all of which will take place at the Lux Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will resume on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00AM. Please note: there will not be a procession from Lux Funeral Home to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Wednesday morning. Those wishing to attend both the visitation and Funeral Mass on Wednesday morning are asked to meet at the church. Interment will immediately follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, and to help cover the funeral expenses, memorial donations may be given to Lux Funeral Home.

I am so sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. Joe and I shared a class room from 1st Grade through 12th Grade. He was always such a nice person in school and I liked him. Peace be with you.
I attended school with Joe at Goodwin and Canyon. He was very likeable and had a great smile. My father often spoke of the enthusiasm and skill both Joe and Nic had on the basketball court and how they contributed so much to their teams.
