Joseph E. Munie

Who was Joe Munie: With sadness, we would like to inform you of the passing of Joseph E. Munie. He earned his angel wings and was called Home on July 24, 2021, from congestive heart failure. Joe was Born in Belleville, Illinois March 3, 1942. Joe was always a gentleman. The kindest, most loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend one could ask for. He met the love of his life , Betty, when still a teenager at the store where employed and love at first sight. Married December 26,1963, they just recently celebrated their 57th anniversary. They were blessed with 2 children - Vicki & Chris. Joe worked for Betty’s parents, Orville & Marie Feder, at Feder’s Texaco Service Station in Belleville, Illinois and family farm in Millstadt, Illinois. Then in 1975, the Feder and Munie families moved to New Braunfels, Texas. This move opened many new doors for Joe. He became a Master Mechanic for Krueger/Maxwell/ValMark Chevrolet for almost 40 years. Joe organized the Comal county 4-H horse club. He was an integral part of the Saddle Slappers for over 15 years. He raised AQHA horses showing them to World Championship status, and he was a member and an approved horse show judge for numerous horse - Palomino Horse Breeders of America, Pinto Horses of America, American Miniature Horse Association, International Buckskin Horse Association, American Buckskin Horse Association-organizations for over 35 years. His commitment allowed him to travel all over the United States and meet new friends. His family also has raised AKC Pembroke Welsh Corgis for almost 20 years. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2016 and was an active member of the Lone Star Parkinsons Association. He was always ready to tell stories, listen to stories and would do anything in his ability to help family & friends. He will be greatly missed. People ask - what did he like - he always said: “what ever makes my wife happy - tickles me to death. “ He was preceded in death by his parents - Joseph E Munie Sr, Gertrude Munie & numerous aunts , uncles and cousins and his in-laws, Orville Feder and Marie Feder. He is survived by: Betty Feder Munie, his wife His children-Vicki Munie and Chris Munie, His grandsons- Aaron Munie & Kolton Duncan, His brothers from Missouri & Illinois- Tony Munie and his wife, Grace plus niece Martina, and nephews - Nick and Chris Munie & their families , plus many other cousins and brother, Michael Munie and niece Jill McCoy and her family. Caregiver- Cindy Sutton, of College Station, Texas, Other cousins - Jim Heizer, Dave Heizer, Gerald Feder of Belleville, Illinois. Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 386 Castell St., New Braunfels, Texas, and will be followed by a Celebration of Life & refreshments at St Mary’s Hall from 11-1 PM.
