Karen Mae Rapier

Karen Mae Rapier passed away in her home, on January 25th, 2022, after a valiant battle with ovarian cancer surrounded by her family and friends. She was just 40 years old. Karen was born on August 4th, 1981 to a military family in Seoul, South Korea. The family moved all over, from Pennsylvania to New York and Oklahoma. Her most cherished childhood memories were the years spent with Trinity Baptist Church in Lawton, Oklahoma. There she participated in Miniature Ministries, Vacation Bible School, and sang with the choir. She fondly recalled big Korean lunches on Sunday afternoons with her best friends. Karen graduated from high school with honors then studied at Cameron University and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She journeyed from Las Vegas to San Jose, California, finally settling in San Antonio, Texas in 2007. It is here that she met her loving husband Raleigh Rapier in 2010. The two were engaged on a beautiful May evening in 2012, in Lubbock, TX, just as the sun and moon aligned at sunset. Karen and Raleigh were married on March 9th, 2013 on their waterfront ranch in Seguin, TX. On March 8th, 2016, Karen gave birth to their beautiful son, Blake Orion Rapier. Karen dedicated her life to raising Blake and being a loving mother and wife. She adored her son. Karen is survived by her husband, Raleigh, son Blake, mother Miae Kim, father William Shane, sister Christina Lee Shane, father-in-law Dr. George Rapier, mother-in-law Susan Rapier, brother-in laws George “Skeets” Rapier (Lori and Phoenix), Hutson Rapier (Vanessa, George and Kaia) along with numerous close friends. She will be missed by all who loved her. A celebration of her life will be held at Hotel Emma on Saturday, January 29th at 4pm. Family and friends are encouraged to share their memories of Karen. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
