Leelan C. Koehler lifelong resident of New Braunfels passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 1st 2021 at the age of 89 years. He was born October 3, 1931 to William and Thelka (Zuercher) Koehler in Cibolo, TX. Leelan was the perfect example of a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and grandfather. He served the United States Army during the Korean War rapidly achieving the rank of Sargent in the Artillery Division from 1952-1954. He married Jerilyn Engel Koehler on February 6th 1955 in New Braunfels. He was a hard worker and man of faith. He worked over 40 years in road construction as a foreman for the Crea Brothers and also helped on their Dairy Farm. He could fix anything and everything. He enjoyed cooking, had a love for dancing and a special knack for woodwork. He loved to garden, be on his tractor and enjoyed sitting and watching the birds on the many birdhouses he handmade. Survivors include Son Chris (Linda) Koehler, Daughter Connie (Dale) Kuhn, Son Curtis (Laurie) Koehler, Grandchildren Tameria (William) Lindley, Alicia (Jimmy) Mott, Stacey Carpenter, Nichole (Kyle) Schroeder, Chad (Jenni) Koehler, Wendy (Jason) Reyes, Caitlin Koehler, Callie (Brandon) Coggin, and 18 Great Grandchildren. Brother Wilburn Koehler, Brother Elwin (Priscilla) Koehler, Brother Burton (Roberta) Koehler, Sister Evelyn (Ernie) Kropp and Sister in law Dorothy Koehler. Leelan was preceded in death by his Parents, William and Thelka Koehler, Father and Mother in law, Oscar and Edna Engel, Wife, Jerilyn Koehler, Brother Alton Koehler, Sister in law Kathy Koehler, Sister in law Angie Stahl and Brother in law Melvin Engel. Visitation will be Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 4pm to 8pm at Lux Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 10 am Friday, March 5, 2021 at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. A Big Thank You to Hope Hospice New Braunfels and all the Doctors and Nurses who helped, and to his daughter Connie and granddaughter Stacey for being there for endless hours making sure he was comfortable and well taken care of. In Lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions can be made to Hope Hospice, 611 N. Walnut Avenue, New Braunfels, TX 78130.

  3. Dear Chris, Connie, and Curtis, We were so sorry to hear about Leelan. I remember him and Jerilyn from the times I visited Uncle Melvin and Aunt Lorine.
