Louise Pyron Poppe

louise poppe
August 23, 1922-May 4, 2019 Those sparkling blue eyes, beautiful smile, and sweet spirit will be missed by all who knew her. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend and was much beloved in every role. Louise was born at home in Somerset, Texas on August 23, 1922 to Blake and Mabel Pyron, and was the third of 4 children. She graduated from Somerset High School as Valedictorian and went on to Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos. She taught school for several years in San Antonio, then went to work at Kelly Air Force Base as a secretary. There, she met a handsome aircraft inspector named Ben Poppe. They married in February of 1945 and their daughter Linda was born in 1954. In 1962, Louise went to work at Sears Roebuck as a manager in their Maintenance Agreement Department. She loved her job and the people there so much that her career spanned more than 25 years. After retirement, Louise began her most favorite role in life: that of Grandmother to her three beloved grandsons. Louise traveled, volunteered in several organizations, and was active in her condo community, serving as the Treasurer of the HOA for many years. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, brother George Pyron, sister Mary Bush and husband Ben Poppe. She leaves behind her daughter Linda Poppe Hageman and boyfriend Dan Shea, beloved grandsons Tyler Hageman and wife Amy, Michael Hageman and wife Kayla, and Reece Hageman and girlfriend Sarah, brother Bernard Pyron and sister-in-law Nell Pyron. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. As a lifelong Christian, Louise was the oldest member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and cherished her many friends there, both in the clergy and the congregation. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 15 at 11:00 am at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 4600 Manchaca Rd., Austin, Texas 78745. ln lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the building fund at Woodlawn Baptist Church or Meals on Wheels of Central Texas in her name.

Guestbook

  1. Dear Family of Louise Pyron Poppe, I am sorry to have read of your loss; please accept my sincere condolences. Something that I have personally found to be of great comfort are the thoughts expressed at John 5:28&29. In these verses we find a wonderful hope for the future of being reunited with our loved ones upon the earth as God originally purposed (Gen 1:28: Psalms 37:11,29) with freedom from pain, sickness and death. (Rev 21:4) Knowing this has comforted me greatly and it is my sincere hope, that in the days ahead as you reflect on the life of your beautiful, beloved Louise and the precious memories left behind, that you will find comfort and peace in the promises of God for it is impossible for him to lie. (Titus 1:2) Questions may come up about why we die? Please go to jw.org to find satisfying answers to these and other questions about life. My deepest sympathies!
