Luke "Rifleman" Mayfield, a resident of Canyon Lake, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2012 at his residence at the age of 83. Luke was born on July 21, 1929 in Stockdale to John H. Mayfield and Minnie E. Perrin Mayfield. He later married Joan Soden Mayfield on June 1, 1985. Luke was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers and 1 daughter. Survivors include his sons, Ken and Margaret Mayfield and Ron and Paula Mayfield; daughters, Debby and James Phillips and Shelli and Alex Carr; step-children, Alan Webb, Michael Webb, Joan King, Beverly Garcia, Forrest Willis and Jessie Bernal; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and three on the way. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Cima Hospice, 1000 N. Walnut Ave., New Braunfels, TX 78130. All services will end at the conclusion of the funeral service on Thursday afternoon.

  8. I am so sorry for your loss. I remember meeting Luke 25 years ago. He always made me feel like one of the family and always opened his arms for a hug. He always ask about my kids whenever I saw him. (since they were just being born when I met Luke). He will truly be missed.
