Marcelino P. Ponce

marcelino ponce
Marcelino Ponce, age 85, passed away on the morning of August 20, 2020, and went on to be with the Lord. He was born on July 17, 1935 in New Braunfels, Texas where he was a lifetime resident. Marcelino was preceded in death by his parents Domingo and Antolina Ponce, and beloved granddaughter Megan Elizabeth Mendez. Upon the maternal death of his mother, his loving grandfather Tiburcio Parra, whom he adored wholeheartedly, raised Marcelino. He began working at the young age of 18 as a factory worker at Mission Valley Mills and went on to serve the New Braunfels and Comal Independent School districts for 20 years prior to retiring. Shortly after establishing his work responsibilities he met his loving wife of 61 years, Rebecca Ponce. Their greatest accomplishments together were the devoted upbringing of three daughters, eight grand children and two great grandchildren. He dedicated all of his love and caring which allowed him to shine brightly in roles as husband, father and grandfather. He truly enjoyed being present in the moment with his family of which he thrived being around and also the many friends he inspired. He is most remembered by his kind heart, fun loving personality and the ability to bring laughs out of anyone he encountered. He also enjoyed traveling, being outdoors, raising family pets and staying current with news around the world. On this day we are forced to live without him, but we will carry the honorable memories and life lessons he has shared with us. Survivors include his loving wife Rebecca Ponce of 61 years, daughters JoAnn Ponce, Linda Mendez and husband Joseph, Judy Levin and husband Robert; along with brother Domingo Ponce Jr. and wife Patricia. Grandchildren; Heather Gonzalez, Lori DeLuna, Jacob and Jennifer Mendez, Zachary, Ashley, and Matthew Moya. Great grandchildren; Sophia Castillo and Liam Gonzalez. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Monday, August 24, 2020 with burial to follow.
