Marilyn Ann Mueller Zengler, age 74, of New Braunfels, passed away on October 26, 2021 at home, surrounded by her family. Marilyn was born on November 21, 1946, the only child of Alton Alfred Mueller and Alice Augusta Wagner Mueller. She graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1965. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Texas State University in 1969 and a Master of Education from the same university in 1976. She loved music, and in her youth she played the accordion and the saxophone and was a member of the New Braunfels High School Band and the Texas State University Stage Band. She enjoyed dancing to German Polkas and Waltzes and also Country-Western music. She was a 9-pin and 10-pin bowler. Marilyn married John Darrell Zengler in 1977 and they had two children. She remained at home as a housewife and mother until the children began Kindergarten. The family enjoyed camping in their pop-up camper, and traveled to several places within Texas and also Louisiana, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Prior to marriage, she worked at Richards and Krueger Co./Home Service Center and, after obtaining her college degree, she worked as a Third Grade Teacher with the Killeen Independent School District. After her children started school, she was employed at several different businesses, but her last employment was with the Comal County Clerk in the Probate Department, which she held for over 21 years. She retired in 2012 and loved being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren. Marilyn is survived by her husband, John Darrell Zengler; one daughter, Cheryl Ann Dycus (Bryan); one son, John Clinton Zengler (Erica); two grandchildren, Eli Joseph Dycus and Emma LeighAnn Dycus; one uncle, Robert Mueller; and numerous cousins. A graveside service will be held at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park at 10 AM on Saturday, October 30, 2021. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the charity of your choice.
