Melody Joye Surber Gulley

Melody Joye Surber Gulley, a resident of New Braunfels, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Methodist Northeast Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 77. Melody was born on January 7, 1944 in San Antonio to the late Leon Blue and Joye Burke Blue. Most of Melody’s professional career entailed working as a legal assistant. Melody was very involved in her church and Emmaus. She loved her family and grandchildren. She always had a heart to help someone else. She loved her cross word puzzles and writing notes to her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Joe Blue and husbands, Jerry Surber and Johnny Gulley. Survivors include her children, Jerry Surber, Jr. (Sheila), Richard Surber (Renee), William Surber (Donna), Rodney Surber (Roisean), Martin Surber (Martha) and Letisha Campbell (Robert). In addition, Melody is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and by two brothers, Ronnie and Donnie Blue. Public visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM on Tuesday morning, May 11, 2021 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Hermann Sons Cemetery in Converse.
