Michael Lee Espitia, a life-long resident of New Braunfels, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the age of 19. Michael was born on April 7, 1996 in New Braunfels to Michael L. Espitia and Nina Marie Garcia. Although Michael's life may have been short-lived, it was a full, well-lived life. Due to his father's military career, Michael was fortunate enough to have lived overseas, making many new friends along the way. Sports was an important part of Michael's life, especially his love of soccer. He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Philip Perez, Jr.; uncle, Hook "Steven" Perez and great-grandparents, Antonio R. Madla and Teodora "Mommy" Madla. Survivors include his parents, Michael L. Espitia and Nina Espitia; siblings, Robert Ryan Contreras, Sabastian Espitia and Joshua Espitia; grandparents, George and Estella Garcia and Robert Espitia and Rita Martinez. In addition, Michael is also survived by his great-grandmother, Loretta Perez. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will resume from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church followed by the Funeral Mass, which will begin at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
