Mrs. Cruz Elda Ramirez de Alvarez

mrs. cruz ramirez de alvarez
Mrs. Cruz Elda Ramirez de Alvarez, age 69, and a resident of New Braunfels, passed away at her home on Friday, June 22, 2018. Cruz was born on May 3, 1949 in Mexico to Manuel Ramirez and Enriqueta Macias Ramirez. Most people knew her as Elva. She loved to garden especially tomatoes; planted over 80 trees and shrubs around her home; was proud of her roses; kept chickens for eggs, and on occasion did some pond fishing. During the holidays she would make tamales around Christmas and New Year's. Though she was limited in her educational opportunities, she pushed and supported her three children to get a higher education. Elva will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father; daughter, Patricia Alvarez, and by her sister, Elvira Ramirez de Rodriguez. Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, Valentin F. Alvarez; children, Rene Alvarez and Norma Alvarez; granddaughter, Mia Alvarez; three sisters Kika, Lupe and Dora; four brothers Juan, Beto, Guillermo and Manuel. In addition, Mrs. Alvarez is also survived by her mother, Enriqueta Ramirez. Special thanks to Kika and Juan, who made a long trip to be here for us from the start. Also special thanks to Valentin's sister and family for being here the very same day to offer support. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. All services will end at the conclusion of the visitation on Saturday evening.

  1. My condolences to the Ramirez and Alvarez families. I’m sorry to hear about the loss of dear Elva. Some Bible scriptures that have helped me during timed of loss include Isaiah 26:19 and Psalm 37:28,29 which states in part: “Your dead ones will live…They will rise up”. And the Bible also says “The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will forever reside upon it”. Therefore the Bible promises that we may be reunited with our loved ones lost in death by means of an earthly resurrection. This is further confirmed by John 5:28,29 which says “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out”. This is possible thanks to Jesus Christ’s ransom sacrifice. Thus we have a genuine hope of everlasting life in a world without wickedness or suffering. I hope that these scriptures will be of some comfort to you.

  2. Dear Valentin, Rene, Norma and Family.
We want to offer our sincere condolences to you during this very difficult time. Cruz was a very special friend and neighbor who will be deeply missed. She was such a smart and hardworking woman who enjoyed the simple things in life. We know she loved her family very much and was extremely dedicated to them. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you.

  3. To Mrs Alvarez’s family, I have fond memories of my best friend Trisha’s mom from meeting her on their farm the first time and making tortillas. I love being a guest in her home. She was an amazing cook and made me feel very welcome. Numerous times she lovingly made me and my family handmade tortillas and green salsa when Trisha was coming to visit me in Arkansas! Thank you for the amazing legacy you leave: your husband and children. Prayers to Mr Alvarez, Rene, and Norma. So sorry for your loss and still mourning Trisha. My thoughts and prayers are with you today. Lara Humphries
