Pablo Cruz

Pablo Osio Cruz, age 89, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. Pablo was born on April 28, 1931 in Mexico to Felipe Cruz and Maria de Jesus Osio. Pablo Cruz aka “El Guero Polvos” enjoyed listening to Mexican music like corrido’s, singing songs and playing his guitar. Back in the day he would write and play music in Mexico to share his passion for music. He spent most of his life in Mexico where he used to be a full-time agriculture worker for 60 years. He came from a very humble home and tried his hardest to provide for his family the only way he possibly could. Right or wrong, he raised 9 beautiful children who have expanded his roots to the fullest. Without forgetting where he came from, he became a resident of New Braunfels in 1988 and in 2013 he finally became a U.S. citizen. Pablo worked at Schlitterbahn and Wurstfest for many years until his retirement. Many knew him for riding his bike all over town, because he didn’t have a car. Due to his kind nature and straightforwardness he was a well-respected and adored man. He had a deep love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He would sing to them and bounce them on his legs to bring them joy. Pablo was a firm believer of “early bird gets the worm” so he would be up at the crack of dawn daily. He enjoyed morning walks alongside his wife. Morning coffee and Mexican sweet bread was always on the menu. He created an atmosphere where anyone that got to meet him would become family. In his last months of life, (due to the pandemic restrictions) he would enjoy naps, gardening, and bird watching. He would give his blessing to his grandchildren and would pray daily for his family and loved ones. He was the family pillar, our rock, our diamond, and the best dad and grandpa in the world. He had a saying ‘’No Aguantas Nada” which kind of means ‘’lightweight’’ in English. He would say this to us and us to him when we were going through hard times or we were feeling down. It became a motivational quote for us to endure life’s ups and downs and stay strong no matter the obstacle. Pablo was more than a blessing to our family, and we love him and will always remember him. Pablo is predeceased by his daughter, brother and sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Ma. Consuelo Juarez Cruz; five daughters; four sons; many many grandchildren, many great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; three sisters; and one brother. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Monday, December 7, 2020 at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2:00 PM. We will then follow in procession to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church #2. Due to COVID, everyone that attends the services must wear a mask.
