Rebecca Delgado

Rebecca Delgado, a life-long resident of New Braunfels, passed away on Wednesday morning, December 13, 2017 at Legend Oaks Nursing Home at the age of 86. Rebecca was born on November 13, 1931 in New Braunfels to Bernardo Cantu and Maria Soleda Cantu. She later married Martin Delgado, Sr., who preceded her in death. Rebecca was a life-long, devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church and also a long-time member of the church’s Guadalupanas. In addition, Rebecca was also a Eucharistic Minister. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Delgado, Sr.; sons, Jeremiah, Joe, Filipe and Raymond Delgado, and by her daughter, Rebecca Delgado. Survivors include her children, Martin Delgado, Jr. and wife, Mary, Ymelda Benavides and husband, Robert, Rachel Castilleja and husband, Julian, Jr., Rosa Martinez and husband, Manuel, Carlos Delgado and friend, Helen, Juan Delgado and wife, Brenda, Alma Rizk and husband, Herbert, Jr., Becky Billiot and Marisol Quintero and husband, Tito; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 12:30 PM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church. A Celebration of Life service will follow from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM later the same afternoon at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel.

My condolences to the Delgado families I’m sorry to hear about the loss of dear Rebecca. Some Bible scriptures that have helped me during times of loss include Isaiah 26:19 and Psalm 37:28,29 which states in part: “Your dead ones will live…They will rise up”. And the Bible also says “The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will forever reside upon it”. Therefore the Bible promises that we may be reunited with our loved ones lost in death by means of an earthly resurrection. This is further confirmed by John 5:28,29 which says “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out”. This is possible thanks to Jesus Christ’s ransom sacrifice. Thus we have a genuine hope of everlasting life in a world without wickedness or suffering. I hope that these scriptures will be of some comfort to you.
Jacobia and I love you Abuelita! We enjoyed the time we were able to spend with you! We will miss hearing your sweet voice. You will be missed.
How can I write just one memory, with such a wonderful amazing lady like Rebecca you can never have just one! She was always with a smile and had the biggest best hugs to give. She always remembered who I was but called me the wrong name we always laughed about that! 😊 She was the type of woman I want to be like when I’m older always loved by everyone and always had love to give. Rebecca you will be deeply missed and your spirit will live on 😘
