Robert "Bob" E. Ainsley, a resident of New Braunfels, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at his residence in New Braunfels at the age of 81. Robert was born on October 11, 1930 in East Millsboro, PA to Andrew T. Ainsley and Gertrude Moore Ainsley. Bob, as he was affectionately known by both his family and friends, was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid sports fan; he loved to bowl, coached little league baseball and was a faithful follower of high school sports, especially the Unicorns. Bob served his country proudly in the United States Air Force and retired after 22 years of dedicated service. Moreover, as a second career, Mr. Ainsley was employed at Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, where he also retired after 22 years of service. Survivors include his loving wife, Rose E. Ainsley; daughter, Renee Romito; son, Bobby Ainsley and wife, Melissa; sister, Betty Rankin; brother, Ken Ainsley and wife, Charlene; grandchildren, Gianina, Nick, Kendall and Madison. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Crawford and Andrew Ainsley, and by one sister, Kate Drylie. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the funeral home with Reverend Charles Van Natter officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held at 9:45 AM on Friday, August 3, 2012 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hope Hospice of New Braunfels.
