  1. We are deeply sorry for your loss ~ Lux Funeral Home & Cremation Services

  2. Roy, one of the most honorable folks I have had the pleasure of working with. You will be missed, your meaningful contribution and legacy admired.

  3. I worked for Roy for 6+ years at VA Monitoring division. Truly admired Roy as one of the best managers I ever worked for. RIP Roy.

  4. The Zablocki and Malvoisin Families send our most sincere condolences and prayers during this difficult time 🙁

  5. Roy is an inspiration and great human being that will not be forgotten. Our hearts are broken, much love & comfort to his family. Here is a 2009 pic of Roy & the Dept of VA’s Secretary Shenseki. Roy was my boss for a few years when first came to VA, we will all miss him dearly, his enthusiastic contributions, and his numerous gifts.

  6. My prayers to Roy’s wife and family. Roy was the truest of men, who led with care, conviction, and effort. His door was always open. Thank you, Roy.

  7. Roy definitely makes work much more bearable and is a delight to work with. My heart goes out to Claudia and the girls for such a rough season.

  8. I knew Roy for most of the 16 years that I worked at the VA. For 5 or 6 years our desks were adjacent to each other and I consider Roy a good friend. Professionally, Roy was an absolute powerhouse. Back when IT monitoring was not a ‘thing’, Roy initiated the highly productive and effective monitoring group at the Austin ITC; this based on his leadership and technical command of the IT landscape. Today, Roy is highly respected across the VA and Federal IT sector. However, my fondest memories of Roy are when he shared his personal passions. I can remember ad-nauseam discussions concerning the advantages of catgut cords for his string bass; and quirky comments about the latest ‘magician’ mentor and the card trick he practiced the previous night until his fingers wouldn’t move any more; and the energetic descriptions of his young son who (like his dad) had a matter-of-fact way of dealing with his siblings and an absolute lack of patience for those who didn’t process life at cyber-warp speed. These memories bring a smile to my face. To Roy’s family, my heart aches for your loss. My wish and belief is that soon you will again ‘smile’ at similar cherished memories of a ‘life well-lived’ and a ‘man well-loved’. God Bless You, Chip Snead

  9. Claudia, there are no words to say how sorry I am for your loss. Roy was such a special young man to so many people. I loved him with all my heart and will miss him, greatly. Please know you and the children will be in my prayers, heart and thoughts. Please take care of yourself and remember all the wonderful times you had, together and how very much he loved you and his children.

  10. Your memories, career, contributions and your incredible impacts on us Roy will be with us into the future.

  11. I had the pleasure of getting to know Roy shortly after joining the VA in 2011, as he pioneered the concept of Enterprise Monitoring at the VA. His expertise and professionalism made quite an impression. So much so that I sought him out in early 2021 to help our team advance monitoring capabilities in the cloud. He graciously accepted and quickly became part of our team, mentoring and teaching, always willing to share his expertise with a focus on mission and serving our Veterans. He will be sorely missed. My sincere condolences to Claudia and Roy’s entire family. I will keep Roy and all of them in my prayers. God Bless You.

    • Echoing Dave’s sentiments about Roy- he was always pro-active, dependable and professional. A true gentlemen. We miss him deeply in the VA’s cloud office. May his family and friends cherish their many memories of this exceptional man.

  12. I worked with Roy for the past 18n months or so. Although I never met Roy in person, we talked quite a bit over the past 18 months. I could tell from our conversations that Roy was a kind and gentle soul. He was a champion, a leader, active and believed in doing things right way. Send my condolences to his family and know that he will be missed by those he touched. Roy certainly affected me and those around him. God bless you in this time of your sorrow. Mike Friedel

  13. Roy had allot of great Ideas, i enjoyed talking to him about what we could do to help our customers and improve things for veterans. He will be missed and I pray for you all.

  16. I worked with Roy for many years, and always considered him a friend and mentor. We both were Navy Veterans, both worked in IT, and both musicians on the side (though I am nowhere near the caliber of musician he was). I took my wife Lara to see him perform once; I remember we had so much fun listening to his band play rockabilly tunes that Lara and I loved to listen to. When we would talk, often Roy would tell me how, if management would just listen to him, that they could avoid all of these problems that management continue to run into (lol). I will miss our conversations and his friendship, but I pray that Roy is in a better place now. Thank you Roy. Shipmate, you stand relieved. We have the watch. – Eugene Tai

  17. During 2002 in my first year at VA Roy was a coworker sitting next to me and then became direct manager for few years. Always enjoyed working with him. He was very professional and intelligent with high technical knowledge. My wife and I once enjoyed his musical skills in Bastrop at Eric’s place. That was a memory. Very nice person. We all miss Him. My sincere condolences to Roy’s family. Swamy (Venkata Doddi)

  21. My deepest sympathy for Roy’s family. I never looked forward more meeting with a customer than with Roy. He truly cared for the VA mission, his people, friends and family. There was never any doubt that he would always do the right thing by all of the above. He is gone far too soon. My best thoughts to his wife and family.

  22. My sincere sympathy to Roy’s family. I was one of his co-workers at the VA for many years, and I always admired his intelligence and knowledge. He was also very personable and a talented musician. I had the pleasure of attending a few of his band’s performances. He was a fine man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Evelyn Averill

  23. Thank you Roy for your unconditional love and support to me over 30 years ago when I was just another French kid off the boat. I have no words to express the shock, sadness and emptiness I am feeling after finding out that Roy has left us. He was and always will remain one of my very best friends, truly like a brother to me. His respect for others, his intelligence and kindness were overwhelming. Over the years, through his random acts of kind attention, Roy made some awesome changes in my life. I will always love and miss him so much. My family joins me in sending loving thoughts of support to Claudia and the kiddos.

  24. I met Roy just over a year ago thanks to our mutual love of magic. He quickly became a good friend and I enjoyed our many conversations. Roy inspired me to take up the guitar and I had hoped to soon get together with him so we could play together. The worlds of magic and music have lost one of their nicest members. We shared much in common including a deep love for family. I will miss my friend and our wonderful phone conversations and email letters. I am so thankful for the time I had with my friend Roy. My life is better for having known him. To his wife and children, I am so sorry for your loss. These past weeks were so difficult for you all, and I hope and pray that this will only serve to draw you even closer together. I can assure you that Roy loved you all from the depths of his big heart. He was a great guy and you were blessed to have him in your lives, even if for only a short time. My heart is broken for you and I mourn with you over this loss. May our heavenly Father bless you and bring you comfort in the days ahead. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

  25. I worked for Tim McLaughlin in 2013. It was through Tim that I was introduced to the howling world of The Moonhowlers. I loved going to hear them perform and getting to know Roy, Tim, Mike and their wives. We always think we have more time. I’m really glad for the the times I howled with The Moonhowlers and heard Roy play and sing, the supportive words from him and Claudia when my mom had open heart surgery, and his hilarious comments on my Facebook posts Claudia, you and the kids are in my prayers during this heartbreaking time. And for Roy…..Awwwwooooo!!
