Ruben G. Perez, Sr., a life-long resident of New Braunfels, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in New Braunfels at the age of 77. Ruben was born on March 27, 1936 in New Braunfels to Pedro Perez and Theresa Garcia Perez. He retired from the City of New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department after 25-years of dedicated service. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Arturo; two brothers and one sister. Survivors include his children, Maria Sanchez and husband, Gus, Ruben G. Perez, Jr. and wife, Annie, Delia Hernandez and Theresa Armendariz and husband, Raul; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. In addition, Ruben is also survived by a sister, Guadalupe Guerrero and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Rev. Camillo Botello, Jr., MSF VF as Celebrant. All services will end at the conclusion of the Funeral Mass. Please note: there will not be a procession from the funeral home to the church on Thursday morning. All wishing to attend the Funeral Mass are asked to meet at the church at 9:30 am on Thursday morning.

  1. My deepest sympathy to Ruben’s Family. I knew him from the early days in the Comal area of New Braunfels and when many of the kids went swimming at Dittlinger’s Dam also known as stinky falls. I left New Braunfels in 1959 but I always remember him.
