Severo L. Gomez Jr.

Severo L. Gomez Jr. (Weno), age 77, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018 in San Antonio at Brooke Army Medical Center. Severo was born on October 27, 1940 in Comal County to the late Severo Gomez Sr. and Josephina Lopez Gomez. Severo Gomez Jr. served with the United States Army from 1963-1969. After returning home he began his career working for Mission Valley Mills for 28 years. After the Mill closed down he went to work at various different part time jobs, one being with Union Pacific. He enjoyed visiting many of his close friends over coffee and at times would occasionally get away for fishing trips. He enjoyed hitting golf balls and love watching the grandkids run after them. Another one of his past times was spending time out in the yard. He will be greatly missed and will never be forgotten. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters Marcelina Garcia, Genevieve Torres, and Petra Hernandez. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Modesta Medina Gomez; daughters, Vivian Kumm (Bradley), Natalia Ortiz (Mario), Yolanda Gomez (David), Yvonne Sanchez (Joey), and Sandy Reece (Todd); 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. In addition, Severo is also survived by sisters, Clara Meza, Maria Saenz, and Alicia Gomez; and brothers, Melchor Gomez, Rodolfo Gomez, and Jose Gomez. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will immediately follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
