Thelma Mae Barnes

Thelma Mae Barnes, 88 a resident of New Braunfels, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017 surrounded by her family. Thelma was born on June 30, 1928 in Midland, TX to Orvis and Avis Hargrove Leftwich. Thelma was a beloved Mother of 5 children and adored by 6 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Louis Barnes; parents Orvis and Avis Leftwich; siblings Bernice Moore, Leonard Leftwich, Marie Thompson, Alma Hill, J.W. Leftwich and granddaughter Kaylie Brooke Thompson. Survivors include her son Stan Barnes (Edna); daughters Sandy Blair (Andy), Patti Williams, Mimi Fields (Ernie) and Nancy Thompson; grandchildren R. Craig Inglet (Aline), Ryan Hencke (Kristi), Tiffany Williams (Nick), Justin Brooks (Kayla), and Taylor Thompson (Bria); siblings Artie Leftwich and Betty Reid. The family would like to express our gratitude to the wonderful and caring nurses and staff provided by Hope Hospice. A private family memorial will be held on Friday, May 19th at 2:00 pm, Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
