Timothy Melgaard

timothy melgaard
Timothy Ray Melgaard of Canyon Lake, Texas passed away peacefully in his sleep after a bravely fought 22 month long battle against Pancreatic Cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Kim, and their two children Kasey Davis (Aaron) of Eagle Springs, Texas and Kyle (Faith) of Marfa, Texas. Tim also had 4 beautiful grandchildren that he loved dearly, Rhian Davis, Max Davis, Mabel Melgaard, and Edie Melgaard. Tim is also survived by his sister Carol Moberg, brothers Richard, Ken and Kerry, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Alvina Melgaard, brother-in-law, Dennis Moberg and sister-in-law, Fumi Melgaard. Tim grew up in Newburg, ND and graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1977 with a degree in Business Administration/Accounting. His career with Hess Corporation started in the oil fields of North Dakota working in field operations. From there he moved through the company learning and growing his knowledge of oil field administration and procurement, which gave him the opportunity to travel the world. Tim loved his 37 years with Hess and the many colleagues that became life long friends. Tim retired from Hess in 2012 and took on a new role as Vice President of Supply Chain Management for Afren Corporation. He retired to his beloved Texas Hill Country home in 2015. Tim loved having people around and spent much of his free time cooking on one of his many grills or boiling crawfish and entertaining friends and family throughout his years in Louisiana and Texas. He loved the many hours of lake time spent with family and friends. He sometimes enjoyed a good game of golf, and sometimes a not so good game of golf, either way it was always about spending time with the guys. He loved our Cajun Family and all the years of Mardi Gras fun and vacations we spent together. He also loved having our Texas Music Family over to play guitar and sing as well attending the many house concerts where we grew to love so many different types of music. He also loved Hill Country drives, exploring wineries, breweries, antique shops, or just driving the backroads. Cancer has touched our family more than once. Kasey, our daughter was diagnosed with T-cell Lymphoma in 1991 and thankfully survived. Tim was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in February of 2018. After chemo and radiation failed he opted for clinical trials with hopes of beating one of the toughest cancers. A small Celebration of Life service is planned at 11:00 on Saturday, December 14th at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Startzville, TX. The family requests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network/PanCan at pancan.org or Mother’s Against Cancer at mothersagainstcancer.org.

Guestbook

  1. Top Shelf man in every way. Fair, Honest, Ethical, filled with Integrity. Fantastic leader of men & women. 22yrs at Hess, I never heard one negative word from any of the many, many people that worked under his lead. He will be missed, never forgotten, remembered with a smile by the hundreds of good people he called his friends. Know this… Tim’s last breath on earth was his first breath in Heaven. He is now renewed by the Grace of God & is surrounded by all family, friends & pets that passed before him. RIP Brother.
