Zachary Richard Zarder, age 31, passed away Tuesday evening, July 2nd, 2019. Zachary was born on May 8, 1988, on Mother’s Day, at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Co. He is survived by his parents, Rick and Kim Zarder, brother Matthew Zarder and wife Donna, and his soulmate and wife Leslie Shimeck. Zachary was preceded in death by his aunt and God mother Tammy Vautrinot. Other survivors include paternal grandparents Thomas and Ida Zarder, maternal grandparents, Richard and Frances Brady, uncles Scott Brady, Perry Zarder, Tad Vautrinot, aunts Jana Brady, Mary Brady, nieces and nephews Galvin, Anna, Lena, Frankie, and Hazel. Additional survivors also include George and Mary Rayhons, Logan Rayhons, Jessie Pacheco, Marty and Pat Shimeck, Casey Shimeck (Kim), Troy Shimeck (Samantha), Dustin Shimeck (Crystal) and a host of extended family and friends that love Zachary beyond measure. Zachary had an unabandoned zest for life and lived his life on his terms, despite his struggles with epilepsy. He refused to allow this affliction to define him and proved that every day by working to build his landscaping business; working hours on end to create something beautiful. He was in his element when he was outdoors enjoying nature’s beauty. He had an amazing smile and way about him that made people want to get to know him. Zachary knew no strangers. His only sibling, big brother Matthew, was his best friend. Zachary looked up to his big brother from the day he could walk and we loved watching them grow closer as they grew older. Years later he would find his soulmate Leslie. We knew as soon as we met her, she was the other half that would complete him. And Leslie told us he completed her too. Zachary’s favorite color is denim blue. Please feel free to wear blue jeans, or the color blue to the Celebration of Life services on July 13th from 12 PM to 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, you can donate to the Epilepsy Foundation in his name or any charity of your choice.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I met Zac through my friend and Co worker Leslie. She told me about him, but nothing could have prepared me for the real thing…amd that laugh. That infectious laugh. Zac is the most forgiving, free spirited, honest person to know. He dabbled in a bit of everything and was interested in just about anything that grounded him to the beauty of this world. He designed a beautiful backyard for my sister that completely stunned me. And we had some great heart to hearts about my son and his struggles. Zac, I could see, was moved to help on such a personal level not just for my son but for me to understand my role and limitations as well. To know Zac was an honor and I am truly saddened by such an early departure. For a man who loved life fully to be taken from it so early is a tragedy that I hope will not be in vein… At least for myself.

  2. Zack had a beautiful soul. He loved his entire family and Leslie. I became part of Zack’s family when his brother Matthew married my daughter Donna. After getting to know Zack, I discovered that he was friends with everyone who came in contact with him. Just a loving human being. He will truly be missed by all, especially Leslie and his family. Zack we celebrate your life and you’ll always be with us in our hearts. Rest In Peace my little hippie soul. ❤️

  3. Zac was a happy free spirited good man God needed an expert landscaper in heaven. RIP Zac be happy and continue helping others

  4. Zarder & Shimeck Families, Our hearts are heavy with sadness at the passing of your beautiful Zachary. While we know he rests in Gods most perfect peace, we also know the pain and sadness you are left with. We pray that God cover you in His most tender mercies and that in time, the memories of your sweet Zachary will bring a smile to your face. Know that you will see him again and when that time comes it will be forever.
Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. Thessalonians 4:13-14
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. ~ Matthew 5:4
Please know that Zachary will live on forever in your hearts and your treasured memories. May God give you peace and comfort always.
    With much love,
    Patty, Bubba and Macy Suplick

  6. I was very fortunate to have Zac in my English III class at Clemens High School! The thing I remember that touched my heart was he always made me laugh at something he would say or do! I told him that even though he didn’t like to write that he was an awesome writer and he should write a book someday! His infectious laugh was contagious and he made many friends with his easy going personality! Students like Zac are few and far between- thank you Zac for making me laugh! I know that God has gained an amazing Angel! Kim and family you will be in my thoughts and prayers! Love you- Tracey Pogue

  7. I am so sorry to hear this news. Zach was such a beautiful soul with a heart of gold. I know he will live on forever in the hearts and minds of all those whose lives he touched. My deepest condolences to all family and friends; my thoughts and prayers are with you.
