Obituary for Viola M. Taylor

Viola Marie Taylor, 94, of Millington, Michigan, passed away peacefully the morning of April 7, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Donald (“Don”) Fraser Taylor; her parents Earl Charles Cryderman and Addie Anna Carr Cryderman; and her siblings OnaLee Cryderman Griffith, Earl (“Bus”) Charles Cryderman; George Valentine Cryderman; William (“Bill”) John Cryderman; and Robert (“Bob”) Arthur Cryderman.

Viola, known as Vi to those who love her, was born December 26, 1923 in Millington, Michigan. She spent her childhood on the family’s farm in Millington, and later went on to become a registered nurse, a loving wife to Don, and a mother to two sons whom she loved dearly.

Vi and Don eventually settled their family in Texas and lived for a period of time in Houston, Texas before eventually retiring in Conroe. Vi was recognized as a certified decorative artist by The National Society of Tole and Decorative Painters, and taught Tole painting in the Conroe, Texas area for 20 years. After the death of her husband, she moved to San Marcos, Texas to be closer to her son Ken, and lived for several years in the Mariposa Apartment Homes before moving to the Regent Care Center. She and her family attended Oakwood Baptist Church in New Braunfels, Texas.

Vi had a gracious, gentle spirit. Her home was inviting to all who entered and truly became a home to us all. She was passionate about painting, enjoyed being outdoors caring for her plants, and was especially fond of all the wild birds that she fed. She had a welcoming, kind and loving soul with a wonderful sense of humor. Her laugh and smile were known by all. We will miss her greatly.

Vi is survived by her two sons and their wives: Donald Michael Taylor and wife Ellen of Kingwood, TX, and Kenneth Taylor and his wife Danny of San Marcos, TX; her grandchildren Monica Taylor and her husband Van Stevens of Olympia, WA, Dan Taylor of Kingwood, Tx, Kerrie Taylor Vacalis and her husband John of Austin, TX, and Gwendolyn Taylor Mesa and her husband Jesse of Austin, TX; her eight great grandchildren; her nephews and their wives: Jim Cryderman and wife Carol, Ronald Meader and wife Lonnie; her niece Diana Pettit; her godchild Gail Gross, and her many friends throughout Michigan and Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Oakwood Baptist Church. Donations in memory of Vi can be made online to Samaritan’s Purse.
