Martin Robert DeMasters, was born in Baytown, Texas on April 20, 1954 and died in Wimberley, Texas on May 14, 2017. He is survived by his sister, Linda DeMasters Durnin and family; his two sons, Dustin Michael Len DeMasters and Sterling Hunter DeMasters; and grandchild, Emilio Mason DeMasters. He was preceded in death by his father Leonard Neigh DeMasters and his mother Sarah Lorraine DeMasters.
Martin Graduated from Bellaire High in Houston, Texas in May 22, 1973. He tried his hand in the oil business, putting together oil deals when he was younger. Later, He started his own painting business and made a career as a painter doing restoration work in historic districts in his younger years and mostly residential and commercial work in his later years throughout the Houston, Austin, San Marcos and Wimberley areas.
He was an avid outdoorsman and adventurer who loved to be free, surfing, hunting, fishing and traveling all over. In the spring and summer, he would guide a select few on multi day fishing expeditions down the Beautiful Blanco river. He was a fantastic story teller who could walk up to anyone and have them on the edge of their seat as he was painting a picture of his latest adventure, describing the scenery in vivid detail and the excitement of the moment. He was also a lover of the old western history, especially Jessie James and liked to spend his down time researching a picture that was given to him by Joyce Webb on his 42nd birthday.
He liked to be alone in the woods, this was where he found his peace in nature and would re-charge. He was very kind hearted and would always be found with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. Martin was an active lover of life who could always find humor in any situation. Those who were lucky to know him and be around him where truly blessed and he will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers please take a hike … or go fishing or swimming.
