Roberta J. Williams
August 10, 1937 ~ May 23, 2017
Roberta J. Williams, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed peacefully from this life May 23, 2017. Bobbie Jean, as she was known to family and friends, was born August 10, 1937. As the oldest child in a military family, she grew up on Army bases across the United States and Germany. A life-long Catholic, she attended parochial schools through high school graduation. She fell in love with her husband of fifty-seven years, Gary, at age seventeen in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. His career as a Marine Corps pilot took them to bases in Hawaii, California, Virginia and Arizona. In 1976 Bobbie Jean received a bachelor's degree in special education from Southwest Texas State University, returning to earn a master's degree in 1982. She began her twenty-seven year teaching career in the Yuma Elementary School District, later teaching in Seguin ISD and then spending the greatest part of her career in Comal ISD. Bobbie Jean loved teaching and helping her students learn to read. She also loved being a mom to her three children but her very favorite role in life was that of grandma. She especially enjoyed attending and participating in her grandchildren's activities, with summer vacations in Port Aransas, Navarro football games and weekend visits to Texas A&M being highlights. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and, when she wasn't with them, talking about them to anyone who would listen. Bobbie Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Col. Robert B. and Gale Seeley, brothers Richard Seeley and Lonnie Seeley, and son Michael Williams. She is survived by her husband, Maj. Gary W. Williams, daughters Leslie Pentecost (Daniel) and Susan Mitchell (Edgar), sister Carol Seeley, grandchildren 2nd Lt. Seeley Pentecost (Becky), Noah Pentecost, Brian Williams, Chloe Dykstra, Matthew Mitchell and Kelly Mitchell as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Private services are arranged at Lux Funeral Home in New Braunfels, Texas. To leave condolences for the family, please visit www.www.luxfhcares.com and select obituaries. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Eden Hill and Heart of Texas Hospice for their kind and loving care.
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. (Proverbs 31:25-31)
