Nicholas Louis Ferrante, Jr., a resident of New Braunfels, passed away on April 26, 2017 at Kindred Hospice in San Antonio at the age of 60. Nicholas was born on June 6, 1956 in San Francisco, CA to the late Nicholas Louis Ferrante, Sr. and Joan Cecilia VanZant Ferrante. Nicholas served his country proudly in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Master Sargent, and retiring in 2001 after 21 years of honorable service. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Arana Ferrante; children, Gina Ferrante-Gima, wife Niya, of Phoenix, Arizona, Tammy Ferrante, of Lakewood, Washington, Don Ferrante, wife, Leah, of New Braunfels, Micah Ferrante and Hannah Ferrante of New Braunfels; grandchildren, Amber and Jasmin Ferrante, Isabella, Daniel and Sophia Ferrante and Velera Ferrante-Gima; great-grandson, Tyson Thornton; brother, Mark Ferrante of Modesto, Ca. and sister, Felice LoPiccolo of San Jose, Ca. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by the Holy Rosary beginning at 10:00AM on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 180 St. Thomas Dr., Canyon Lake. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM, followed by a meal in the reception area of the church. The funeral procession will depart at 12:50 PM promptly from the church for an arrival time of 2:00 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, which is where the graveside service with full military honors will take place.

  1. Very sad to hear the news about Nick. I went to school with Nick all the way back to Simond Elementary School in San Jose and on through middle and high school. I will always remember him as a nice, gentle, intelligent guy. My condolences to his family.
