MaryEllen Balk, age 86, and a resident of New Braunfels, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, September 20, 2017 at Elan Westpointe in New Braunfels. MaryEllen was born on June 17, 1931 in Litchfield, IL to Louis Klein and Margarite Mussatto Klein. During her professional career, MaryEllen worked as a registered nurse. Traveling was a passion and she especially enjoyed cruising and vacationing with family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her loving husband, Ernest Balk, four children: Louise Goethe (Brian), Joe Balk (Dana), Mark Balk (Julie), Jenny Balk; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of MaryEllen as you go through the difficult days ahead. I will always remember that smile she had as she entered the Christus Santa Rosa gym and saw her friends ready to greet her. We think of both of you often and will miss her.
