Susan Crisp Greene

January 19, 1948 ~ June 1, 2025
Susan Crisp Greene, 77, of McQueeney, Tx, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at her home. Born on January 19, 1948 at Fort Clayton Military Base in Panama Canal Zone, she was the daughter of the late Maj. Gen. George Benjamin Greene, Jr. and Jane (Drake) Greene.
Sue had many passions, but her biggest was horses. She loved riding for pleasure, raising and training horses, and giving riding lessons to others. She shared that passion with her daughter, sister, and niece. She also had a passion for arts and crafts, including macrame, leather work, and wood burning. Making art and jewelry with feathers and snakeskin, such as hatbands, watchbands, belts, and purses, was how she thrived and made a living in the mid-70s to early 80s. She was extremely talented at whatever she chose to do. She loved being outdoors, embracing Mother Nature, searching for rocks and arrowheads, gardening, and bird watching. She also loved live music and let local bands practice and jam in the back building of her property. Before, during, and after practice, she would pass out Tuaca and tequila shots to the band and their friends. Sue was kindhearted, generous, and lived without prejudice or judgment. She made friends easily and could talk about anything and everything. In 2021, Sue’s daughter, son-in-law, and their fur baby, Dalton, moved in with her and her fur baby, Windy, to better care for her and keep her company. They were her pride and joy. Although there were ups and downs, there was so much love and laughter. She was truly happy and filled with love in her heart. Sue was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Susan is survived by her daughter, Christine Smith, and husband, Chris; brother, Drake Greene, and wife, Suzanne of Gilbert, AZ; sister, Jackie Muir of McQueeney, TX; niece, Jennifer Keller; nephew, Charles Greene; and great-nieces, Caroline, Samantha, and Hailee. In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her sister Helen “Muffy” Greene and brother-in-law Samuel “Sambo” Muir.
According to her wishes, there will be no public services. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time.
