Steven Daniel Hernandez

October 4, 2005 ~ August 31, 2025
Steven Daniel Hernandez, 19, of New Braunfels, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 31st, 2025, in Seguin. Born on October 4th, 2005, in Watsonville, CA, he is the beloved son of Victor Alexander Hernandez and Maria Guadalupe Hernandez-Raya.
Steven was a caring son and brother who was always ready to help his loved ones. His passion for mechanics started early through his involvement in his high school robotics club, following in the footsteps of his older brother, Victor. He loved working on his black Ford Excursion, diesel trucks, and semi-trucks. He lived out his dream of working at Performance Truck Kenworth in Buda. He was a hard-working mechanical tech, often found with grease-stained hands and arms.
Outside of work and school, Steven loved taking night drives in his truck, playing video games with his younger brother Christian, and spending time with his cherished cat, Cece. Athletic and handy, Steven enjoyed playing volleyball and even fixed up the net at MECHS for everyone’s enjoyment. Known by his co-workers as “Bluey” because of his bright blue contacts, Steven was dearly loved everywhere he went. He was a cologne enthusiast who enjoyed country music and found joy in simple pleasures like free fluffy bread at restaurants and country-fried steak. Steven was affectionate and thoughtful, yet also vocal and full of energy, never afraid to say what was on his mind. He often leaned on his stuffed dog, “Mancha”, for comfort and support. He had a big heart and a giving kindness, often expressing his love by surprising his sister Daphne with thoughtful gifts. Steven’s warmth, humor, and hardworking spirit touched everyone he met, leaving behind love, laughter, and joyful lasting memories.
In addition to his parents, Steven is survived by his older brother Victor Alexander Hernandez Jr., his sister Daphne Guadalupe Hernandez, his younger brother Christian Benjamin Hernandez, and his maternal grandparents Bertha-Alicia Valdez-Martinez and Esteban Raya-Torres. He is also remembered with love by vast extended family, many dear friends, former sweethearts, classmates, co-workers, and neighbors. Steven had a gift for bringing joy and laughter to everyone around him, leaving an enduring warmth in their hearts.
Steven was preceded in death by his father’s adoptive mother, Grandmother Barbara Schutter, and by the family’s adored pets: Kita and Splash, Japanese Akitas whose protective nature matched Steven’s loyalty and care, and Lady Masha, a Great Pyrenees puppy whose affectionate spirit mirrored Steven’s own.
