Resided in: New Braunfels, TX

Rodney Clifton “Pops” Smith, 74, of New Braunfels, Texas passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Born September 24,1951 in Paducah, Texas where he proudly grew up. Rodney lived a happy, fulfilled life in New Braunfels with his wife, Pat, of 33 years.

Rodney was happy to spend the majority of his time in his man cave smoking some type of meat, making sausage, watching football, or working on family projects with Pat. You could also guarantee his loyal companion, Maggie, his yellow lab, was sitting right by his side. When Rodney wasn’t at home, he was at the ranch with his best buddy, Bryan. Pops’ greatest passion in life was spending time with his family. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and attended all of their events; you could always find Pops at a football game, cheer competition, or a family dinner. He lived for Sunday dinners at his house, where he cooked meals for family and close friends. Rodney was such a generous and kind man who welcomed everyone who entered his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Ann Smith, and his son, Ryan Smith. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia, of 33 years. His children Amber Molinet (Roger), Joshua Owens, Jamie Jackson (Stephen) and son-in-law Justin Blair. As well as his grandkids: Bronson Molinet, Addison Molinet, Steel Jackson, and Weston Jackson. His brother Rudy Smith (Kathy) and their children Stephanie Joseph (Joe) and Chad Smith. Rodney was a believer in Jesus Christ and we all feel at Peace knowing he is now with his maker.

Guestbook

  1. Rod was a dear friend, and we loved him like family. He was kind and generous and always wore a smile. We will miss him and his BBQ – the man loved to feed people. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time, and we pray Rod is at peace and surrounded by friends and family who have passed before him. May God rest his soul.

  2. Love you all…..Rod was an outdoor man through and through…..just think, he now has the most beautiful view of God’s nature and beauty all around him. ❤️
As we all know…..this was his time of year.
