Davy Crockett Bass, 71, of Nixon, TX, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday November 29, 2025. Davy was born February 18,1955 in Memphis Tennessee to the late Jimmy and Flora Bass. He was a devoted husband to Peggy Van Gundy and a loving father, brother and friend.

After completing high school in Houston Texas, he enlisted in the U.S Army, serving his county proudly as an Airborne Ranger. Davy enjoyed playing the harmonica and spending time with his friends and family. The stories he’d share would bring so much laughter to the room.

Davy married his late wife; Peggy Van Gundy and became each other’s best friend. They spent all their time together, enjoying camping trips and motorcycle rides. He loved taking road trips with her and just seeing the country. Davy was devoted husband and made sure Peggy was taken care of. Davy enjoyed sharing stories from when he was younger and all his life experience.

He is survived by his sons Richard(Valerie) Kupper, Houston TX, TK(Christine) Van Gundy,  New Braunfels, TX, Jeremy(Laura) Van Gundy, Nixon TX, Joey Van Gundy, Marble Falls TX, Ronnie(Olga) Van Gundy, Spring TX, Robbie(Maria) Van Gundy, Lubbock TX, his 2 brothers James(Linda) Bass, Southaven MS, Mike(Cathy) Bass, Box Elder SD; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and close friend Harvey (Nancy) Pawalek of Nixon, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Peggy Van Gundy of Nixon TX and his Son Eric Kupper.

Davy will be missed dearly but we find comfort in knowing that Davy’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught, the love he shared, and the memories that will be cherished forever. A celebration of life will be held at later date.
