Aurore Marie Duren, age 78, passed away, surrounded by her family, on December 16, 2025. She was born on June 24, 1947, in Rogersville, New Brunswick, Canada, to Zelia Marie Thebeau and Patrick Joseph Richard.
As a young woman, Aurore moved to the United States, where she met her future husband, Ronald Gregory Duren. They were married in 1967 and built a life rooted in family, perseverance, and quiet strength. Though she spent the remainder of her life in the United States, Aurore remained deeply proud of her Canadian roots.
Aurore devoted most of her life to raising children. She was a stay-at-home mother who lovingly raised her four children—Ronald Jr., Noel, Denise, and Tomi—and later took on the role of raising two of her grandchildren. In total, she spent nearly fifty years caring for children, shaping generations with patience, sacrifice, and steadfast love. Her family is forever grateful for the care she gave so freely.
She possessed an innate curiosity and a deep respect for knowledge. When her children asked questions, she often encouraged them to “look it up” in the dictionary or encyclopedia, instilling both independence and a love of learning.
Though her life’s work centered on family, she often remarked that in another life she might have been a surgeon. She was fascinated by the human body and medicine—a passion that lived on through her daughters, who now work in the medical field.
Aurore was adventurous and curious about the world. She loved seafood, camping, and exploring new places. Her green eyes and warm smile could light up a room. As a young mother, she learned to be frugal out of necessity, a habit she proudly carried throughout her life. She took great pride in stretching a dollar and providing for her family through discipline, ingenuity, and determination.
She was a strong woman with a stubborn will—one she carried with her until the very end. She never relented and fought the dying of the light with resolve and grace. She loved her life and held onto it as long as she could, never wanting to leave the party.
Aurore is survived by her former husband, Ronald Gregory Duren; her children Ronald Jr., Noel, Denise, and Tomi; her grandchildren Noah, Kaylee, Kristen, Gabriel, Ethan, Isabella, and Braden; great granddaughter Hazel; her sisters Rita, Pat, Louise, and Maria; and her brothers Camille, Laurie, and Roger. She was preceded in death by her sister Theresa.
She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
A Funeral Mass will be held on December 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 386 N. Castell Avenue, New Braunfels, Texas.

In this life you embraced them with your tender love;
deliver them now from every evil and grant them eternal rest.
The old order has passed away: welcome them into paradise, where there will be no sorrow, no weeping, nor pain,
but fullness of peace and joy with your Son
and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
Amen
