Long time Comal County peace officer, William Preston Overstreet (born August 12,1941) passed away April 21, 2026 after a brief illness from cancer. He leaves behind his wife Gloria Overstreet, son James Overstreet, step-children Denyse Farris and husband Jim, Ernie Jones and wife Wendy, David Jones and 7 grandchildren and great grandchildren. His is preceded in death by his son, John.

Preston taught elementary school more than 23 years, starting his career in Eagle Pass and finishing in New Braunfels at Lone Star and Carl Schurz.

He actively served Comal County as a law enforcement professional for more than 53 years. He served as a peace officer, jailer, and dispatcher with the Comal County Sheriff’s Office and as a reserve deputy constable for Precincts 1, 2 and 3. He also was a motorcycle police escort for funerals.

Preston was honored by the 100 Club of Comal County for his lifetime of service, dedication and commitment to law enforcement in Comal County.

The family will be hosting a come-and-go luncheon in his honor on Sunday, June 7 th at Kings and Queens Ballroom at 442 Stolte Rd. Please come by between 12 pm and 3 pm to visit and share your favorite memories and photographs.
