Kimberly Ann Mack

On June 20, 2026, at the age of 52, Kimberly Ann (Caffey) Mack was welcomed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She leaves a beautiful legacy of unconditional love, kindness, and unwavering faith.

Kimberly’s life was a testimony to what it means to love others the way Jesus did. Whether you knew her as Kim, Kimmie, Sunny, Mom, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, or teammate, you knew a joy-filled person who made you feel valued, encouraged, and deeply loved. She believed every day was a gift from God and often reminded those around her to “maximize joy,” and always put Jesus first.

Born on September 1, 1973, to Ted and Alice Caffey, Kimberly grew up in New Braunfels, Texas, living life to the fullest and spreading joy wherever she went. Alongside her parents, her brother, Curt, and countless family members and friends, she filled her days with family meals and prayer, weekend ski trips, afternoons at the lake, and every sport she could play. She had a way of making every moment more fun and was everyone’s biggest encourager, even from a young age.

During her freshman year of high school, Kim met the love of her life, Rodger Mack, on Memorial Day weekend at Canyon Lake. Both high school athletes, their love of sports brought them together, but it was their love for each other and for Jesus that grew. Rodger described his Kimmie as someone who made him a better student, athlete, and Christian young man. She was “the most fun person to be with, the most supportive person you can have on your side, the most confident person in your abilities (sometimes even more than you have in yourself), an energy multiplier, a smart copartner, and she would not quit until we won. She was and still is my daily motivation.”

After high school, Kim and Rodger’s love story continued as they pursued their love of sports in college. Standing just 5’3” tall, Kim’s athletic talent and determination earned her a basketball scholarship to Concordia University in Austin, and later led her to compete on the water ski team at Texas State University in San Marcos.  Rodger, wanting to stay as close to her as possible, went to play baseball at St. Edwards University in Austin. Though Kim would firmly say she was an athlete, Rodger would say she was his biggest cheerleader.

What began as a teenage romance became a beautiful love story spanning nearly 40 years. The couple married on May 10, 1997 and set out on their first adventure to work in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, followed by a summer season in Rancho Cucamonga, California.  In 1998, expecting their first child, Kim and Rodger moved back to New Braunfels, where their love story began, excited for their next chapter as parents.

Kim would say that being a mom was one of her highest callings and greatest joys. She and Rodger welcomed their daughter, Maddison Victoria in 1999 and son, Connor Bailey in 2000. Kim’s love for her family was evident in everything she did. She wholeheartedly poured herself into creating a home full of joy, laughter, warmth, and unconditional love. From early mornings to late nights, she was fully present in their lives, supporting their dreams, encouraging them to become all God created them to be and, just as she was with Rodger, becoming their biggest cheerleader.

Just a month before her passing, Kim was overjoyed to welcome her granddaughter, Colbie Lee Slone, into the world. Her new role as “Sunny,” a name that perfectly captured her joy and warmth, was another one of Kim’s greatest blessings. From the moment she heard she would become a grandmother, she jumped up and down with overflowing excitement and began filling closets with baby clothes, preparing for Colbie’s arrival, and dreaming of the memories they would share. She treasured every opportunity to hold her, care for her, and simply enjoy being her Sunny. Although her time as Sunny was far too short, she embraced it with the same wholehearted love that filled every season of her life.

Kim not only intentionally invested in her children, helping them grow into amazing adults, but she also opened her heart and home to countless others. Whether in her role as a coach, team mom, school volunteer, kids’ play date host, party planner, or faithful friend, she consistently put others first, made them feel like family, and pointed them to Jesus. She never sought recognition for herself, but was often the first to offer encouragement, give a thoughtful gift (she kept Bath & Body Works in business!), organize a gathering, prepare a meal, send a thoughtful text, and bless others through random acts of kindness. She did it with joy and contagious laughter that made others want to be more like her.

Kim also never counted anyone out. She was a friend to everyone and poured her heart into each relationship, empowering people to follow God’s plan and lead with grace.

She celebrated life’s ordinary moments as much as its milestones. From family dinners, game nights, coffee dates, ice cream runs, and bargain shopping trips, to Aggie sporting events, beach days, Disney vacations, and annual snow ski adventures, Kim was the glue that kept everyone together,  smiling and laughing.

Kimberly is lovingly remembered by her husband, Rodger Mack; her daughter, Maddison “Maddie” Slone, and son-in-law, Aaron “Cole” Slone; her son, Connor Mack; her granddaughter, Colbie Lee Slone; her parents, Ted and Alice Caffey; her grandmother, Lavada Caffey; her brother, Curtis Caffey, and sister-in-law, Kelli Caffey; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends, and her faithful companion, Tinley.

Though Kimberly’s absence leaves an immense void in the lives of those who loved her, her legacy lives on in every life she touched. Her words to live by weren’t just words, they truly were how she lived each day.  Some of the reminders she shared most often were:
• Maximize joy
• Make today a great day
• Connect with people right where they are
• Search for someone’s day you can improve, and then do it
And finally, the words she would send us off with: “Put Jesus Christ first in your life, then go live!”

A Celebration of Life service will be held July 25, 2026 at 11am at Freedom Fellowship Church, 410 Oak Run Point, New Braunfels, Texas, 78132.  For the celebration of life the family invites you to wear bright and fun colors as we celebrate Kimberly’s joyful life. In lieu of flowers, please honor her legacy by intentionally blessing someone through an act of kindness.
