Rita O'Brien

rita o'brien
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rita O'Brien at the age of 62 from a rare form of lymphoma after a yearlong battle with this excruciatingly painful form of cancer. She passed peacefully in her sleep at home with family present. She is survived by her husband of 41 years Roger O'Brien; sons, Shawn O'Brien and Jason Sobczak; her brothers, Charles Augello, Frank St. George and Russell St. George and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and 3 gorgeous grandchildren who she cherished. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank St. George and mother, Rosalia Licata of Fredonia, NY. The family wishes to thank all of those that helped and lent support to her long and painful struggle and wish to especially thank Karen Vordenbaum for her continuous daily support and care. It was her wish to be cremated with her ashes scattered into the sea at her favorite family fishing spot. There will be no formal church or funeral home services, but rather a celebration of her life at home with any family or friends that would wish to attend @ 5:00 PM on Friday, October 12, 2018.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. My fondest memory of my dear childhood friend Rita was her love for family. She was always a woman of strength and determination. Also, a typical, good little Catholic Italian girl who was taught to be a good daughter, sister, friend and mother, which she was. It’d been too many years since we last spoke and I’m sad to hear of her passing. You will always remain in my heart with love and fondness. With love, Kathy Saletta Greene

  2. Roger, our sincere condolences to you and your family. I remember Rita as always being the happy italian girl that she always was, full of energy and humor. Cherish the memories you have. God Bless.
