Albert “Al” Thomas Sherrill, age 69, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 9, 2025. He was born in Livorno, Italy on June 12, 1956 to Samuel and Anna Sherrill.
Al was a proud U.S. Army veteran, serving for 22 years and retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his military career, Al continued serving his country as an information technology professional with the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Though we grieve his passing, we rejoice in knowing Al is now fully healed and embraced by the Savior he trusted so deeply. Heaven has welcomed a faithful servant, and we are forever grateful to have walked this life with him.
Al was known for his quiet strength, unwavering kindness, and deep compassion. He had a servant’s heart and lived out his faith daily—not only in words, but through the countless ways he showed up for others. Whether it was a calm presence in difficult moments, a kind word, or a helping hand, Al embodied the love of Christ in all he did.
He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a true friend to all who knew him. Al had a deep appreciation for the beauty of the outdoors. He found joy in hiking, camping, grilling, and sharing cold beers and meaningful conversation with family and friends.
Al was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Sherrill. He is survived by his beloved wife and soulmate, Lynette; his son, Steve Sherrill; grandson, Atticus O’Quinn; and his loyal dog, Nutmeg. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Raymond Schrader; sisters-in-law Jackalyn Schrader and Patricia Roseland (and husband Samuel); nephews Trenton Brown (and wife Angel), Brandon Booth (and wife Clarissa), and Lane Booth; and nieces Taylor Bledsoe (and husband Joseph), and Morgan Langlais.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM at Lux Funeral Home. Interment with military honors by the U.S. Army will take place at 2:30 PM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
In honor of Al’s life of faith and service, donations can be made in lieu of flowers to Options for Life or T Bar M Camps.
Al’s legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Throughout my life, there are only three people’s names I’ve thought of when I’ve ever asked myself the following question:
What would Al do?
May his memories always be a blessing.
Al and Lynette stood beside me during the most difficult time in my life. I am forever grateful for their kindness and generosity. Al was an amazing grandfather to my son Atticus. He will be greatly missed and in my prayers.
